In a survey by the Post Office out today France beat off Italy, Greece, the USA (Orlando & Miami), Australia and many other countries for value for money on a basket of holiday essentials bought in resort. Essentials such as insect repellant and sun cream consistently came in less expensive and amazingly a three course meal including wine was a massive 25% cheaper in France than Italy and over 40% cheaper than eating out in the Florida.
Now we have all known for years that France offers better value for money for holidaymakers than Italy and Greece, but what really surprised us is that it was only beaten by the tiniest of whiskers by Egypt which everyone keeps touting as so cheap was less than 1% cheaper than France!
Doesn’t mention wine, the last time i was in France wine in the supermarket was available from about 1 euro a bottle, only about 85 pence per bottle in sterling now that’s a real saving as Tesco don’t have anything less than 3 quid a bottle!
Wine is still significantly cheaper in France especially compared to places such as Spain, Italy and Greece, even the UK! You can still pick up some great 1 euro deals on bottles of wine in the French supermarkets!
