Campsite La Pinede, La Palmyre Royan, Charente Maritime, France

La Pinede has very quickly become established as a 'fantastic family campsite'. With its ideal location in the sunny Charente region, camping in France at La Pinede is a great way to explore the French countryside and the superb Atlantic beaches.

Flights to La Rochelle leave you with less than an hour drive to the campsite. You must remember to book car hire and not forgetting the linen service. Of course there are many options available if you prefer to travel by ferry. Self drive holidays are the best way to enjoy a French campsite holiday, and there are sailings available via Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries to Roscoff, St Malo, Cherbourg and Caen.

Excellent entertainment while camping in France

With a huge choice of activities to get involved in, La Pinede is an obvious choice for family camping holidays in France.
It has all the usual facilities and lots more besides. Fancy a game of 10 pin bowling - al Fresco? Or perhaps crazy golf or the inflatables?
Younger children will simply love the playground and the small farm where they can feed the billy goats. Teenagers can try their hand at archery, or join in with a football or volleyball competition.
The fantastic water park is certainly a prominent feature of this campsite. The stupendous waterslides and chutes combined with a lazy river, Jacuzzi and both indoor and outdoor swimming; there is no better way to spend a family day.
The large sun terraces are perfect for drying off after splashing around in the pools.

Don't forget to check the Koala Club board at our reception for details of what fun activities we have planned for 5-12yr olds. It is a great way from the kids to make friends whilst parents enjoy some well earned rest or perhaps work out at the gym.
The Restaurant has a good and varied menu that is suitable for all the family. Whilst for snacking there is the Creperie and the take-away. As is normal in France, you can usually get Moule-Frites at the take-away as well as the more traditional serving of burgers, chips and pizza.
Of an evening there is family entertainment most evenings (during high season) including live music, karaoke, bingo and discos.

Nearby to La Pinede, La Palmyre, Royan

Fantastic rugged surf beaches with a backdrop of dense pine forest are what typify the Charente region.
The Atlantic beach is just 5mins drive from site, and there are some excellent shady picnic spots in the woods behind the dunes.
The Phare de la Coubre is a working lighthouse just 5 mins from the campsite. Visitors can climb the 64metres to enjoy spectacular views over the Gironde estuary and the Coubre forest.
Nearby La Palmyre has many attractions including a Tree top adventure parc with zip wires, an adventure playground, mini golf and a trampoline park for children.

Of course the world famous Zoo de La Palmyre is an excellent day out for the whole family. The 'open' enclosures are spacious and the 1500 animals are well cared for. The peacocks strut proudly around the public walkways, whilst the cheetah loves to have races with anyone that cares to challenge him along the side of his enclosure. The roar of the male lion can be heard from more than 3 miles away!
A little further down the coast, the modern coastal resort of Royan has a great beach as well as some fantastic places to eat out.
The Casino at Pontaillac near Royan is highly recommended. It has an excellent restaurant with superb panoramic views.
Of an evening the sunset over the Atlantic is nothing short of spectacular. The military town of Rochefort, the beautiful port town of La Rochelle and the city of Bordeaux are all worth a visit and are within easy driving distance of the campsite.
