In addition to its perfect beach front location, the facilities at La Dune des Sables make it one of the best family campsites in the Vendee region. The swimming pool complex has a poolside bar and large patio. Sun worshippers can enjoy an ice cold drink soaking up some rays, whilst the kids splash around in the pools. The fountains and waterslides are fantastic for cooling off on hot sunny days. Children will love the playground where there are swings, climbing frames and tunnels - all placed within a giant sandpit - don't forget the buckets and spades!
The Koala Club has many varied activities organised during the week including treasure trails, sports tournaments and arts & crafts. The campsite itself has many daytime activities planned including aqua aerobics, water polo, tennis and billiard competitions. For the less competitive, bikes can be hired from the site and there are several cycle tracks through the cool shady forest. On an evening, the bar terrace is an excellent place from which to enjoy an aperitif and watch the fantastic sunset over the Atlantic.
The cosmopolitan resort of La Sables d'Olonne is just 3 miles away and has been described by our guests as 'one of the finest resorts on the West coast'. The promenade is lined with some fantastic shops and restaurants. The choices of cuisine on offer is phenomenal, but certainly the most popular restaurants are those frequented by the locals which offer today's catch of fruits de mer.
For fun family days out, the Zoo at Sables d'Olonne is an ever popular attraction.
For those with an interest in sailing, the Vendee Globe yacht race commences at Sables d'Olonne and the old style fishing port at La Chaume is worth casting an eye over.
The Atlantic Toboggan water park at St Jean de Monts is the perfect way to keep cool during hot summer days.
Another exciting day out for all the family is a visit to Futuroscope , a futuristic theme park near Poitiers.
Le Puy de Fou is an attraction worth setting a day (and night) aside for. The medieval spectacular and theme parc recreates bloody scenes and battles from 1429. The Gallo-Roman amphitheatre is host to chariot racing and Gladiatorial battles. La Cinescenie sound and light show of an evening should not to be missed. Organised coach trips can be booked at the campsite reception.
