Perfect campsite holidays at Sequoia Parc, Marennes, Charente Maritime
Being a member of the prestigious Castels et Camping Federation, Sequoia Parc offers nothing less than perfect campsite holidays in France. With fantastically lush and spacious pitches, there is no doubt that this location is 'one of the finest campsites on the West Coast'.
The old Chateau has been well preserved and stands proudly in the centre of the campsite. The coach house and barns have been redeveloped to form the reception, bar and restaurant areas, whilst still retaining the charming original features.
La Rochelle airport is just ½ hour drive away, and the low cost airlines often have some good flight deals available. Remember to book your car hire and don't forget to order our linen service.
Self-drive camping holidays are the most flexible way to enjoy France. Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries have regular scheduled sailings to Roscoff, St Malo, Cherbourg and Caen. With a choice of overnight, daytime, fast craft sailings and cruise ferries, there really is no better way to travel.
Fine family camping holidays
Sequoia Parc is the obvious choice for fine family camping holidays in the Charente Maritime region of France.
Taking a look around the beautifully landscaped grounds, it's hard to believe that you actually on a campsite in France.
The wonderful array of lush green shrubbery, bright plantations and palm trees make this botanical haven an absolute delight.
The standard of facilities, as you would expect is particularly high. There are stables on site, and even the most novice horseman can book a riding session. Children will love the Playgrounds where they can play for hours on end digging in the sand, swinging, climbing and hanging. Simple but wholesome fun!
Football and tennis courts provide a good distraction for teenagers and team competitions are sometimes organised. The aquatic parc complex is one of the best of all.
With magnificent freeform pools, paddling pools, lazy river, waterslides, Jacuzzi and a massive sun terrace, there really is no need for any other activity.
The whole family can happily spend an entire day splashing around and cooling off from the fantastic Charente sunshine.
Of an evening, the impressive restaurant with open oak beamed roof features an elaborate menu.
The sunshine record in this area often beats that of the Cote d'Azur and the soaring temperatures last long into the evening.
Diners if they prefer can sit al fresco in the Chateau courtyard.
Why not immerse yourself into all things local, enjoy a glass of Pineau de Charente over ice, before sitting down to the world famous Huitres (Oysters) de Marennes. As night falls, there is regular family entertainment organised around the stage within the courtyard.
The area around Sequoia Parc, Marennes
The magnificent sandy beaches of the Charente are some of the best in Europe and are just a short drive from the campsite.
Unspoilt with rugged sand-dunes and access through dense pine forests, this region is nature at its finest.
The world famous Zoo de La Palmyre is an excellent day out for all the family. The 1500 animals live in relative freedom in their 'open' enclosures and are well cared for. Peacocks walk freely around the zoo, and the Sea lion and the Parrott shows should not be missed. There is even a feeding platform whereby you can come face to face with a 20ft tall Giraffe!
The beautiful port town of La Rochelle is only ½ hour away. The harbour is a perfect place to enjoy a cool drink or sample the local fruits de mer.
The fantastic Aquarium which has been described as the best on the Atlantic coast is a great day out in itself for the whole family. There are some brilliant markets across this region where you can buy local produce including Pineau, Cognac and fresh Oysters.
